Please, I beg of you, please... do not go to this location unless it's truly life or death. It is literally the most run down post office I have ever seen. It's like it's own third world country in there... Basic cleanliness is avoided at all cost, the staff is gruff and intrusive. I once went through the third degree when I tried to open a PO box, by a counter rep about who I was, where I lived, and WHY I wanted one - can you believe it. I was horrified at the old man. The doors don't even open and close properly. The drop off box has been without a handle for close to a year. The windows are cluttered with time worn adverts and tattered post office posters. They are just dirty. As far as I knew, USPS employees were union members. I know in my union, that if I had to work in these deplorable conditions, I would have a shop steward to speak up. I have the feeling this one is so, BECAUSE of the "union". When you go in, you are greeted by a sign taped to the door explaining that the lobby will close at 6pm (instead of the advertised 24 hrs, as so many others offer) "temporarily". The sign has also been up for close to a year. I guess temporary means different things to different people. It's not that I want to complain, I usually don't. It's that I have held the PO in such high regard my whole life and can't believe that this nonsense is allowed to exist. My great uncle was a post office worker for 40 years, I am a stamp collector (always have been) and I ONLY ship my 12 packages a week or so that I sell over Ebay WITH the USPS. It's disturbing how things can be acceptable here. Why doesn't the Post Master deal with the issues, or make room for someone who is interested in keeping the good name of the PO from collapsing. I'm sad, that's all. not angry.
