I was physically assaulted on December 11, 2023 by a postal employee at the Engleside (22309) location. The incident occurred between 4:00 and 4:30 pm. She is a young woman who wears a black baseball cap. When called to the counter she said immediately that I needed to change the tape on my package. I used the tape that was on the counter leading up to the service area. Apparently it was the wrong color. She asked me to step aside. When I asked if I could just remove the tape ( It was an 8 X 10 priority envelope that I just put two small pieces on the side for extra security) she said " you can do what ever you want ". Then she left the area for about 30 seconds. When she returned I asked her if the package was ok and she said " I already told you what you needed to do and I don't like your attitude!" I was so confused. She then proceeded to tell me she would not help me and called the next customer. When I said "what ?" she called the next customer again. I then proceeded to put the package back on the counter brusquely and said "mail my package". At this point she picked up my package and hit me with it forcefully on my right arm and then threw it at me.( Thank goodness it was not heavier, I have only a small bruise). I was stunned. I could not believe she accosted me. All in the area were stunned. I asked if everyone saw what just happened and at that point the employee said "It's all on video and pointed at the security video camera overhead' She was never apologetic and continued to argue with me. Another postal employee came and asked me to step away saying it would be better so that the woman who hit me would stop arguing with me. I told them I was calling the police at which point the employee told me that the police can do nothing because it is Federal property. I told her I wanted to speak to the supervisor and was told there was not a supervisor on duty after she went searching. I told her I was calling the police and did so. Fairfax County Police arrived and were very polite and courteous. They took my statement and the employees statement and the other employee gave a witness account. While waiting the supervisor came out from the back. She seemed surprised when I told her what happened. She did know anything that had occurred and it had been over 15 minutes. The police gave me a case number and told me they could not do anything since it was federal property. They gave me the number to call the Inspector General of the post office. I immediately called and filed a report. I have not heard anything from them in over 24 hours. I went back today ( December 12) and the employee is still there working the front service desk. The gall. I want to have her arrested for assault charges and am trying to figure how to do this since it is on Federal property. There is video of this incident. I called back the Law enforcement division of the post office today and filed a report with them. Did not know it was a separate office to speak with. Praying that someone will look at the video and hold this employee accountable!!!

The Engleside 22309 has a number of inconsistencies. We haven't received our mail on a consistent schedule for the past 3 months. Sometimes it's delivered before 10am, Sometimes it's delivered after 5pm. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Not even rain. Also, we have submitted hold notices multiple times which have also been ignored. Unfortunately, this past week with mail delivery has been especially egregious. My mail was delivered to my neighbor to the left. And I received the mail for my neighbor to the right. This happened down the street. I had bank statements and cards, which if I didn't have a great relationship with my neighbors, could have been lost. Is it possible for you to address these issues? I am not sure if anyone else has complained, but I do have important information mailed to me.

URGENT: Mail is being improperly sorted and put in the incorrect P.O. Boxes at this location. This is causing a lot of taxpayer a major issue with important notifications not getting to them in a timely manner Someone in this post office is not doing their job or needs direct supervision for handling and sorting mail for the P.O Boxes.

Ongoing for 2 years. Lived at address since 2008 i have contacted everyone. My mail is still being forward to an Dumphries, VA and Tysons Corner address where I never lived in my life. It's time now for a lawsuit. I have to go above and beyond, causing me to many problems.

The Local Alexandria post office has done a knock- out, over the top job this year. So many things were delivered surprisingly early or on time. Postal workers were out late at night and early mornings working very hard. They deserve a round of applause and a beautiful holiday season!!

Carrier is not pushing mail all the way through the door slot for weeks, so it sits in the slot where anyone could walk up and take it. Carriers change frequently and seem overloaded but please train them right. I have called about this a few times, but they don't seem to get the message. Birchlake Ct., 22309

I placed a letter in the outside blue mailbox of the Post Office, 8588 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309 on April 3, 2020 and the individual I was sending it to never received it. I stopped by this location on April 20, 2020 to ask if they could recheck the box to see if its still in the box and the postal lady who took my information at 1:30 PM said someone would call me back but no one has call yet and today is April 21, 2020.

We have recently had a change in our mail carrier and we are not happy at all. We used to get our mail by 3 pm each day and large items were placed by our front door. The new carrier never comes before 5 pm and last night had still not delivered the mail by 6:30 pm. I got it this morning. In addition she stuffs everything into our box even if it is too large. Why was this change made? Please give us our old carrier back as he was great. Kathy and David Spahr

This post office needs new employees !!! They are discourteous and tend to continuously loose mail with out a bit of remorse.. They act like your time is not valuable and are unable to make or keep timed appointments. Maybe they feel their salary is not adequate for the tasks they perform and as a result do not perform to the best of their ability, which I feel is grounds for termination... There are plenty of people looking for jobs whom wouldn't mind putting their best foot forward to accommodate the public.....

I am disappointed that a priority mail package scheduled to take two days took a week to arrive at its final destination. (No. Virginia to Charlottesville)

This place... Had an appointment for a passport at a 11
(granted didn't show up until 1102 so I wasn't early or anything) and then I
was told that they would get to me in just a minute even though no one was in
the post office. So after waiting 25 minutes I see a guy walk up and get his
passport stuff started by the lady that told me to wait. A little peeved, I go
back to the waiting area and after she gets this guys stuff and answers some of
his questions about the application, it's finally my turn in line. She asks for
my stuff which I have all of and then asks for the photo. I told her the guy I
scheduled with said it can be done here.
To which she said "They won't do it here anymore and that I need to
go get a picture at the local CVS". This post office does not do photos.
Trying not to be that angry jerk customers service people have deal with, I
just politely except my fate and make my way over to CVS and get all that done.
So I go back, get all the way done and ask if the lack of info on my parents
might be an issue (I have their DOB but not the location) and she tells me
"She isn't allowed to help me out in filling out my paperwork". Tell
her I'm not asking for help, just want to know if this is going to be an issue.
Same response, in the same repugnant tone she kept using this whole time. I
really am being nice this whole transaction. She'll be dealing with my passport
and I'm sure she can easily just lose my stuff. So in the end I thank her and yell
in my car out of pure anger and frustration. I am typically pretty hard to
emotionally rattle over these things, especially since I get that maybe they
are having a bad day or something and me making it worse isn't going to help
anything. But I haven't wanted to yell at someone like that in a long, long
time. So best of luck or pick another place if you can.
