I think the personal at the ST. John Post Office do a great job. I can not speek about the carriers because my mail comes from the Cedar Lake office which dose a great job.

How would one get a government post office closed, we clearly do not need our tax dollars going to these lazy people?

If you want reliable delivery of your mail, getting a post office box in one of the neighboring communities is your best option. This is because mail delivery in the town of St. John is very inconsistent. The carriers are incompetent. If you have business to do inside the post office, it is also advisable to visit a neighboring branch. Trust me, save yourself the wait and headache of dealing with Jan and the rest of the poor counter help. The town of St John has grown much too large for this branch to handle. The facility and the employees are overwhelmed. The building needs to be torn down and a larger facility built to accommodate all the cracker jack subdivisions in the town. All in all, this postal branch is backwards, much like the town of St. John in general.

Most in town already know of the long lines and inconsistent mail delivery but their shortcomings go beyond the usual poor service.Another very real concern is with the afrocan american carriers who are extremely dangerous drivers. They race up and down the streets trying to deliver the mail. They will pass houses, realize their mistake, pull a u-turn and speed back to houses they forgot to deliver to. I have seen them take out mailboxes and drive onto the easments and private property. I have also witnessed numerous close calls with hitting vehicles and human beings. This is very true and serious danger. The post office needs to try to educate these carriers because they are downright reckless.

This is a very poor post office. Delivery is inconsistent. Service at the location is very slow. The black women they employ as carriers are very reckless drivers and are very rough with packages.

No mail received for three days. Does USPS pay the late fees?

This post office branch is sub par. We have had numerous difficulties in dealing with them. They are not concerned about reliable service and customer needs. Robin, a carrier, has been seen throwing our boxes onto our porch, and has broken two items so far in doing this. She leaves mailboxes open so mail is subjected to the weather. Since we had her, she is extremely late, delivers other people's mail to us, and leaves nasty messages when confronted with postal issues.

There are two robins in that office. I am sorry you had that experience. The other Robin takes great pride in her job and cares greatly about customer service.
