I saw all the negative, complaining comments and wanted to add my own views of the US Postal Service. My husband and I have lived in Kona for over 31 years, and in all that time have experienced nothing but excellent service from all our mailmen and mailwomen! During the shutdown while COVID was at its worst, they still delivered mail and we were happy to receive it when we felt so isolated. Later when UPS and FedEx were chosen to deliver all the COVID test kits to the many pharmacies, hospitals, and other medical facilities, it fell on the USPS to also deliver all the Amazon packages, which in Kona arrived on one of the last flights of the day, around 9:30 pm. These wonderful men and women of the Postal Service sucked it up and worked late into the night picking up the arrived packages and delivered to the many Amazon customers just before 10pm or later. They hadn’t had dinner and were hungry, so I would run out with a granola or candy bar so our mailman would have something to eat. He was always gracious and thankful for the small gesture of understanding. For me, our US Postal Service is the best! Thank goodness they are willing to work long past their pau hana time to ensure that all customers receive their mail/packages. 🤙🏼♥️

Kailua Kona post office mailman are RIDICULOUS! They are constantly placing my packages in other peoples boxes or leaving a parcel key with a number on it for me and when i open the box its EMPTY! This isnt the first time! I cant run a business with these useless delivery people CONSTALNTLY messing up! I have called MULTIPLE times throughout the day only to have the phone ring over and over with NO ANSWER! You folks are beyond useless! I dont want to hear “because of covid” BS! This is not because of covid this is because YOU ALL DONT CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES SHIPMENTS! I AM EXTREMELY SICK OF USPS! Someone better find my package before i come down there! Unbelievable!

Our mail carrier is 100% the best. However the Post Office here in Kona is a disgrace. They are unable to hire or keep enough staff they are unable to deal with problems. I have complained before and got a CYOA response from the supervisor in Kona. Our delivery comes so late I believe 8 or 9pm is really late. The truck broke down in front of our house night before last. It sat there until last evening. Get some competent management in Kona

Here we go again! They are not being honest about not delivering my Amazon packages! Last Friday it was because they said there was no secure place to leave them, except my front porch at the top of the driveway, then I rescheduled for today, only to find out they said an unsuccessful attempt to deliver yet another order at 9:14 am! Such BS!!! Went to the PO in Kona at 11:15 am and the 9:14 am attempted pkg was already back at the PO!!! And, one of the pkgs that was rescheduled for delivery today was also handed to me!!! I think they are just sitting back in the office sending these BS excuses to Amazon because they are to lazy to come up my driveway.

Why would the local post office decide to stop delivering packages in the midst of a pandemic?

Tried calling different times and dates and I'm getting the same problem, phone continues to ring with NO ONE ANSWERING. ( RANG FOR 20X THEN CUTS OFF RANG AGAIN FOR 20X THEN CUTS OFF) SOMEONE SHOULD ALWAYS BE THERE TO ANSWER. WHOEVER THE SUPERVISOR IS THAT PERSON IS DOING A VERY POOR JOB, I HAVE COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS SAME SITUATION IN THE PAST,AND, LOOKS LIKE NOTHING HAS CHANGE, THIS SUPERVISOR NEEDS TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER, WE THE PUBLIC IS PAYING THEIR WAGES.

Horrible. Called and no answer; they do not attempt to deliver boxes that do not fit in the slot of a door and just say it’s attempted but not deliverable and we were right inside the door awaiting this delivery! I was waiting for this package since it’s my medication and no one “attempted” but the system texted it was. So not true and lazy! I am NOT happy with USPS at all! Reliability is diminished and there is no accountability.

Darlene is our main delivery woman up here in Kaloko mauka. We are so blessed. She always goes above and beyond for all of us ....and does all of it with a big smile and more pure aloha than I have ever seen - even when working late into the night. Mahalo Darlene!

I'm missing mail- and very concerned- because of its importance. This is not just 1 occurrence- multiple times over the last year- he is a new driver- we used to have Chris Nakasone and never had any issues. We're on Hoene St.- the new driver just says "I'm sorry its not my fault" Not happy.....

Our previous mailman retired. He would always come in the store with mail and was always pleasant. Then he retired, the new guy would drive past out door when we had mail out to be picked up, had to watch for him and run out the door to give him our mail. Then our mailbox disappeared he,Kenny, will not deliver our mail, tells his substitutes to not deliver our mail since our mailbox is gone. He did not pick up our mail anyway unless we watched for him and had to go out of the store and give it to him. He goes into House of Lights next door with their mail. WHAT DO WE DO? Owner

A supposed to be 4 days delivery took 11 days and we lost a customer. Another package disappeared! Thank you - America is a real exceptional country. Question remains exceptional in what.
Don't try to send important things abroad - the m*r*ns will do everything that it arrives in pieces and of course nobody in this exceptional environment will take responsibility.
Try to call their hotline? 800 number - only if you want to spend a day on the phone.

I live at Kona Shores in Kailua..On 12/20/14 the mailperson, rather than leaving a card in our mailbox that we had a package, left the package at our front door!!! Now we aren't always home there as we go between there and Hilo for work..We were not in Kona during that time and the mailperson JUST COULDN'T LEAVE A CARD IN THE BOX AS MOST CARRIERS DO..Needless to say our package is now missing.. I can not believe a card was not left for us (we also have several large package drop boxes which require a key on site). I am beyond upset with this type of service..I want to file a compliant with the proper person. Santos/Henitz

It's December 10th 2018 and they still don't answer their phone. Worst post office in the world. I wanted to call them to tell them their drop box in the parking lot is so full that mail is sticking out of the opening but you can't even do that.

Sent mail to friend twice with returned stickers telling us that Forward Time Expired RTN to Sender. Address is correct. Sent once from mainland and once from Honolulu. What'sup Kailua-Kona postal workers? We've been trying to call 808-326-1432 to find out whatsup? Somebody needs to go there physical and audit the situation and fire some people from government jobs they don't deserve to have.
