Lincoln Post Office slams doors on elderly customers
Ten years ago, we moved to Sun City Lincoln, where the warmth of the community helps compensate for the isolation that can come with aging.
At that time, the Lincoln Post Office had double doors designed to keep out winter cold and summer heat. The doors were also automatic, a small but meaningful addition meant to help the many elderly and disabled residents navigate the space more easily, especially when carrying large packages.
But within months of our arrival, those automatic doors broke. That was 10 years ago. And they still haven't been repaired.
Despite countless complaints, petitions and requests for action, the excuses from the Post Office have been endless and maddeningly creative: 1. They can't get electricity to the doors. 2. They're awaiting a part from Kansas. 3. They've submitted a work order. 4. There's no budget for repairs. 5. The manual doors still meet ADA guidelines. 6. And finally, they just don't plan to fix them.
Watching elderly customers struggle with the heavy, cumbersome doors, especially during the Christmas rush — when they can barely hold a package, let alone push open a stubborn door - feels like an assault on their basic human dignity. It's infuriating to witness the indifference of management meant to serve these very people, to see how they treat those who pay their salaries like an afterthought.
If this is what "public service" has come to, we've crossed into a world where compassion, common sense and even basic decency have been abandoned. It's not just frustrating, it's heartbreaking. And it's impossible to ignore.
Make a copy of this and deliver it to the Postmaster.
Postal worker keeps putting my mail in my neighbors box and vice versa. This caused a three day delay in getting viral heart medication. I’ve left two notes inside my box and they keep doing it!!!!
I had medication mailed. It was in a box, whoever delivered the mail shoved in and I could not get it out. I had to have medication, so a few neighbors help and we ripped the box, damaging a bottle of medications. This is really not acceptable, the postal worker should have brought up to my house. Now I'm out money and have to go to pharmacy to have it made again. I hope this postal worker is told what he did. and i'm not a happy customer.
I HAVE LIVED HERE OVER THIRTY YEARS AND THIS POSTAL SERVICE IS THE WORST BY FAR. I GET WRONG MAIL IN MY BOX ALL THE TIME AND THIS WEEK I GOT THE WRONG MAIL THREE TIMES. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO READ.
I just dropped off some packages at the Lincoln PO and I want to say how impressed I was with the speed and efficiency the staff provided. The layout for the holiday crowd was very good and I appreciate that it allowed for appropriate social distancing.
Thanks to the whole team and best wishes to all for the Holidays.
Cheers and stay safe.
This post office is the best, the employee Kaitlyn is very polite, knowledgeable and beautiful. Thanks for your helping hands!
Many blessings to you.

Why is mail not getting delivered on Saturday's anymore and regular mail is taking SO long to receive (if at all). A lot of missing mail. I am constantly getting email notices from the USPS with pictures of what mail is to be delivered soon only to never receive it.
I am a long-time subscriber to Netflix and I receive and return DVDs by mail. I notice that recently these DVDs have taken an extra day in reaching me: they take two days to arrive after Netflix sends them whereas they previously arrived after only one day. My address is 1344 Picket Fence Lane in Lincoln Hills.
