Yesterday, Amazon sent me a note saying that my small package, turned over to USPS for delivery, would be delayed for a couple of weeks. An hour later, I checked the tracking at usps.com, which said that the parcel had indeed been delivered to my mailbox. Nothing there, so either it was stolen, put in the wrong mailbox, or USPS is fibbing.
I am a Calif native and lived in the east bay, Southern Cal and now Northern Calif. In my 66 years I have taken the mail delivery for granted. It's always been there, never had to think about it. Until now. This is the worst service I have ever witnessed. I have on several occasions received notices that there was an attempt to deliver but was un accessible. I live on an open street in a year old home. My driveway and path to front door is ALWAYS accessible. On these days I not only missing packages but even the mail is not delivered. Let me be clear, there is no attempt at all to deliver. Not sure if it's a staffing issue but this is the worst service I have ever had to deal with.
If you go to www.postallocation.com for Healdsburg you will see I'm not alone.
It is happening again! the mail AND our newspapers are being stolen out of our mail boxes. Today I received a pile of mail (20 pieces plus, postal bubble envelope with a book in it), none addressed me. I am sure our neighbors would be VERY upset too, knowing I received all their mail today!! I will be taking to the Healdsburg postmaster, because not all the is addressed to only one person, grrrr
You are right, the post office does not answer the phone. Can I ask a question through this venue? What happens to mislabeled mail? Does it get returned to sender? Need to know, some checks are missing.
I consistently have to go to the post office to pickup things that the mailman is supposed to deliver. anything larger than a CD always gets marked as reason he couldnt deliver as "Receptacle Blocked" Why does he have a job?
