I have been a a Summit Lakes area Athens resident for six years. This to commend your most helpful and professional counter staff! Now, my mail delivery is essential for several reasons. We get delivery usually between 5:00pm-8:00pm! Most weeks we receive NO mail service on at least one day. Recently, it has gone to two days a week. For six years I’ve heard “training route, end of route, need employees etc!”It’s time for a vast improvement. It’s 9:20pm on November 28,2020 -two consecutive workdays without any mail service!!! Thank you for your reply and attention to this need of improvement for our community.

Over the 20 years we have lived here we have had repeated problems with mail delivery, mainly our mail going somewhere else or us getting others. Recently we had a package not delivered because the carrier felt there was no safe place to leave it. We went on the USPS website as requested and asked the package be delivered the next day. Three days later the USPS tracking site still showed the package at the Athens Post office, but employees there stated they could not locate it. They took my contact info and promised to track it down and let me know the status, but at no surprise to me I have heard nothing from them. It is no wonder organizations such as UPS and FEDEX are putting the USPS out of business.

Since we moved into the Athens area in July, we have had numerous occasions when packages have been claimed to be delivered and never have been. Once, we did get it when someone down the street brought it to us. We have also gotten mail for other people a few times. And, our voter registration cards were claimed to have been delivered and never showed up for a week. By that time, we went to the voter registration office in Athens and had them create new cards for us. We lived in Madison for 7 years and only once did a package get marked as delivered and not show up. It was two doors down and they brought it to us.

I visited the Athens Post Office at 10:10 a.m. on 8/5/20. The male employee behind the counter was not wearing a mask. When I asked why he was not following the state mask order, he said the post office is not the state. I reported this incident to the Athens City Police as well, per the State's guidelines for reporting health orders.

I came home today and two packages sticking out of my box because the carrier was too freaking lazy to place them at the front door. Sure make it easy for the porch pirates and mail thieves. Ridiculous!

I have Never had such BAD service as Athens post office ! For years I received mail for someone five miles from me And my mail is put in the mailbox of a lady two miles away! Both are different roads. And our names are nothing alike. This has been going on for several years since we got the current mail carrier. Everyone on our road gets the others mail and if you call Athens post office there is no answer Once I tracked a package and it was tracked delivered to my house Finally after a week a lady answered and talked with him, he said he placed on our porch. She sent him out to find it he put on someone’s porch brought the package and placed on porch that night and didn’t even ring the doorbell. No apologies. He passes the mailboxes with the flag raised. Last week we received a package a substitute brought it our mailbox is on the road. She drove across yard right to the FRONT DOOR and I asked her why she did that she said she thought it would be okay. She would not tell me who her supervisor is. I have called Birmingham and Montgomery. They were saying this should not happen. But it is the same. None of us can believe how incompetent they are.

I had an issue with a lost package that Fedex dropped at this P.O. I called for help. It took several rings to get to a person (the P.O. is VERY busy), but once I got an employee, she was VERY HELPFUL! She was very kind and patient with me while she found my package that had an error in the address.

when you call them to get information on your package they never answer the phone and no one ever picks up if it wasnt for me living in athens alabama than i would never use the post office here again
