Meanwhile, to find out what was going on, I called the Belleville Office to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor, who identified himself only as Berricha, informed me that he would find out what was going on. (I also asked him for the name of his supervisor and he informed me that his supervisor's name is Paul Ramirez). When I called back, the supervisor told me that he instructed the employee to reopen but the employee told him that he was on lunch break. I advised the supervisor that as the employee's supervisor, the employee was being insubordinate. The supervisor told me that he in fact told the employee that he would be held accountable for closing the post office. The supervisor also told me that he was sending some one to the post office to assist. Meanwhile, 45 minutes later, at least 15 people were on line (while others left) when another employee, out of uniform, arrived to reopen window service.
When it was my turn to pick up a package, the employee out of uniform asked me a number of questions such as -- where were the post office boxes located? Where is your orange slip? I responded by saying these are questions that should be directed at his coworker -- that I did not know where the post office keeps packages for pick up and that I had a yellow slip in my box for pick up, not an orange one. While this back up employee was asking me these questions, his coworker remained silent. When the back up employee found my packages, after giving him the number to my post office box and showing my ID, the back up employee, out of an intent to punish me, stated that he should not give me packages because I did not have an orange slip. I told the employee that I gave him the yellow slip, gave him my post office box, and my ID, and that he had no basis to withhold my package. The backup employee yelled in a raised voice to me "to stop b****ing". I responded by saying that he was there to serve and not to withhold service. He appeared reluctant to give me my packages.
To say the least, this level of service is simply unacceptable. I hope this complaint reaches both Mr. Ramirez and others who are in a position to address to hold these employees accountable for their conduct and actions.
A totally dissatisfied customer.
Belleville. For the past 3 weeks, we have not had any mail delivery on Fridays
and Saturdays. On Mondays, huge stacks of mail are left for us at our respective
residences and there are many misdeliveries - I get my neighbors' mail. My
neighbors get my mail. Some of the mail I receive has either been opened or
mangled beyond recognition, including birthday cards and bank statements. Last
Monday I found a neighbor's credit card statement with a replacement card that
was included in my batch of mail. The envelope had been openedI find this wholly unacceptable and a gross compromise of my personal and
financial information. I understand opening other people's mail to be a federal
offense. I assume this law applies to postal workers as well, including the CCAs
which are now being hired to handle our mail. What is going on with our mail delivery?
