Bought services to a postal box at a rental location. Purchased the right on Friday, January 27th with the promise the key would be dropped off the delivery the following day. Five days later still no key and no definitive answer as to when the service will commence, though it's paid for.

I havnt been getting mail. When I get mail it's for someone eles. This is very annoying. I understand that post office is understaffed. Something needs to change.

Hey it would be nice to post something somewhere when you know services are going to be disrupted. I get that you along with everyone else is the lowest staffed ever but if we knew no service then it would not be dozens of people just wondering about why no mail.

I am very sympathetic to the fact that the post office is seriously under staffed. I would like to suggest that when the post office knows that a carrier will be out for more than a few days (ours has been out for a week) that they notify the neighborhood about the absence and explain that people can come in and pick up their mail. If the Post Office has no practical or legal way to notify us, perhaps they can notify City Hall, and the City Manager's office can put a notice in Front Porch Forum. We can all help and support the operation of the Post Office if we have up to date information. Thank you.

I support this suggestion! We would really appreciate knowing when there is a disruption in service.

We are on the route of the carrier that had an accident last fall. We are still going to pick up mail in Montpelier, which is not always available. I'm running a business in addition to needing home delivery and this takes an hour out of my work day, and checks, bills, etc. are always lagging. I sympathize with the carrier but after this long I don't understand why alternative arrangements aren't made. I was told I could get a PO box but why should I pay for one in addition to losing the time to go to Montpelier, park, etc. just to get service that I already subsidize?

In the 2 weeks since our mail carrier had her accident, we did not receive any, nor was mail picked up for 3 days. Now mail is delivered sporadically and we never know when, mail is still not picked up. Mail, when it is delivered, is not put in the receptical that USPS insisted that we had to have. When we try to pick up our mail, we are told that it is out for delivery or that our carrier will deliver only to have no mail pick up or delivery. I would like to resolve this in some way. Our mail out going and incoming is time sensitive every day. THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED NOW!

I second the no-delivery-on-Monday observation... or on Friday, or Saturday. Must be nice having a performance-optional job!

Try to see if you can get your extended zip code number to use. We have 4 additional numbers to identify us when we use the Montpelier Post Office but aren't in Montpelier. You may not know it, but it exists and there are tools you can use online to find it out. Such as this, go here, enter your address and it will show the extended zip code if you have one (which you should): https://tools.usps.com/zip-code-lookup.htm?byaddress

I was expecting an urgent package yesterday, Jan 23 2021, however it was not delivered. The delivery status stated that my driveway way not accessible at 6.30pm. This was not true, my driveway and door step were totally accessible. This is not acceptable service, and I believe the carrier misrepresented the situation. Please advise who I should contact to discuss this issue further.

Can I but stamps from a carrier? What about mailing a package? How would I best do that?

I was chatting at a safe distance with a friend at 35 Northfield St. yesterday. Hour carrier was delivering mail there. He came within about a foot of me while inserting mail into the box. I loudly said, 'social distancing!' to remind him to back off. I am really disappointed that the post office is sending out people who are not conscious of social distancing. Many people are asymptomatic carriers, and he may well be one. He could be endangering people by getting too close to them. Please demand that your carriers, who are endangered themselves, to take better care. And thank you!

Bronwyn, Perhaps you could let the postal worker do their job and move your conversation away from the necessary mailboxes...so that YOU are making sure there are 6 feet between you and the worker... it takes a village of courteous people... to make this work. Why are you not home, safe?

I came here to get a photo of the Historic Montpelier Train Depot which has a Post Office attached to the far side. I have a handicap tag and was not going to utilize the first parking place which is for handicapped only. But a selfish USPS employee had parked their car in the handicapped parking spot in front of the Historic Montpelier Train Depot, where a person could easily get a photo just like the photo which advertises the Historic Montpelier Train Depot. Because of that selfish Postal employee parking in the handicapped parking place, I was not able to get a good photo of the of the historic “Jim Crowe” era train depot where segregation was still prominent at that time. Although I still got my photo where you could see the “White” and “Colored” entrances, I had to step up so close to the front of the depot to get the photo, you cannot see all of the front of the Historic depot. This is because the USPS employee was parked in the first parking space. I thought since it was 10:00am and we were going to see Montpelier, which was James Madison’s Home, I would just get the better photo on the way back from the Mt. Montpelier Home. It was now after 1:00pm. I thought there would be no cars in the parking lot. Much to my dismay the car was still there. Having worked in Area Maintenance for the USPS for 30 years, I have been to many Post Offices and I know Postal Employees are not allowed to park in customer parking. If you come here and a car is parked in the first parking place where you can get a great photo of the Historical Montpelier Train Depot, don’t hesitate to walk in the attached Post Office and tell the employee you know that Postal Employees are not supposed to park in Customer parking. Hopefully the employee will have caught wind of this bad review and will know better than to park in a customer parking space.

Where is this historic Montpelier Train Depot? The only reference I could find was in the state of Virginia, not Vermont.
