I love the US Postal Service. It is one of the few branches of government I fully admire and have full trust in. However, I was saddened by an interaction I had with a carrier that delivered mail to my apartment building, 67 Main St. We at the American building have countless signs up requesting that all visitors and tenants wear masks in the halls. Our sign reads as follows - "ATTENTION VISITORS The tenants of 67 Main Street ask that everyone entering and exiting the building(all delivery personnel, visitors, maintenance folks etc.) PLEASE recognize the Vermont State mandate (8/1/2020) and wear a mask. Many of us are Immunocompromised and greatly appreciate this loving act of community care while vising our home! Thank you and take care -The tenants of 67 Main-" Many of us are immune compromised and need to be kept safe. Covid is an airborne virus and the best way to stop that spread is through wearing masks. This postal worker, a mid aged woman with brown curly hair, refused to wear a mask. I spoke with her for a while but she seemed to have no interest in helping my building feel and be kept safe. I understand that many have opposing views on the matter of covid but in a private building such as ours, she is not in a position to refuse our requests. I did not catch her name but I ask that she be transferred to a different rout. Again, she delivered to the American building(67 main st) on 9/17/20 at around 10:30. I do not want her to loose her job or suffer a pay cut as I know she has a child, but if she wishes to continue the rout she is on she will need to wear a mask in our building. I hope you take this request seriously. On behalf of all of the tenants of 67 Main St -Nel McNeill

I just spoke to Melissa at the Brattleboro post office, and can I tell you how wonderful she was? I am missing a dog coat in NH, and it got forwarded to them accidentally, and she took my info and is going to personally look for it and get it to me! How awesome! I spent 20 minutes on hold at the national number, so figured I'd go to the local office. Hopefully it will work! That's great customer service!

We found the passport service to be poor at the Brattleboro Main St office. We had to get a passport for a child which requires both parents to be present. This limited the time that we could do this to Saturdays. Two weeks in a row we called the Brattleboro P.O. to ask if the passport office was open, both times the worker on the phone stated It was open. Both times we arrived at the post office to find that the passport office was, 1) closed, 2) open but unavailable to help because they were short staffed. The kicker with the second time was that I learned from my first experience I should really call the day of planned visit (not even a few days prior) so 30 minutes prior to being told we could, "go some place else," by the postal clerk, we were told on the phone that "yes the passport office is open today until 11:30am." The postal clerk was not in the least bit apologetic when I explained that I had just called and been told we could come down and that we had a similar experience a week prior. Nor did he offer that he could help a different time, just "you can go somewhere else." Wow. We ended up looking on the door of the passport office to look for alternate locations and found the Spofford, NH office would be open for another 1.5 hours so we drove over there hopeful that we would experience at least common curtesy. The Spofford experience was completely different. The postal worker was so kind, she apologized for the experience we had in Brattleboro and said that "of course" she would help us "that's what the sign on the door says!" She was efficient and polite and the customers who had to wait the 15 minutes it took for her to process everything were sweet and patient about it when we apologized for their wait. One gentleman engaged my son about how lucky he was to be able to travel. Thank you Spofford P.O. And Spofford residents at the P.O. who had to wait a bit!

For more than a few months either I get my mail or I don't get anything for days...today I put mail in my box with the flag up and the mailman drove right by. When I called the list office to complain they told me that if I didn't have any mail then they wouldn't stop even if my flag was up. I think that's ridiculous . It's there job to deliver and pickup our mail.
