Florham Park Post Office, 07932This is the worst post office in the area, maybe the worst in the United States. The attitude of the employees and their work ethic is horrible. There can be a long line at the counter and only one postal employee behind the counter to service the customers, yet you can hear all sorts of talking and laughing in the background. The postal employees are generally cranky and do not treat the customers with respect. A phone call to the post office usually results in continued busy signals until after closing time. When the phone does ring, it rings about 5 minutes before anyone bothers to answer it. This has been going on since I moved to Florham Park in 1974 and a change of Postmasters does not seem to make any difference at all.I did not receive an absentee ballot that had been mailed. When I went to the post office to inquire, I saw an envelope about the size of the ballot sitting on top of a wall of pigeon holes to the left of the service counter. When I said to the postal employee that the ballot was in an envelope much the size of the one on top of the pigeon holes, he pulled it down. It was my absentee ballot, too late to mark and return in time to vote.I received a priority package 1 day after it had been entered into the USPS Tracking System as having been delivered.I received a priority package 5 days after it had been entered into the USPS Tracking System as having been delivered.I received a first class letter from AZ to NJ in 8 days. Funny, but it only takes 4 days for a letter I mail from a different post office to reach AZ from NJ.I could go on and on. Suffice it to say, when I need to deal with a post office directly, I go to a neighboring town, Chatham, NJ 07928, where the employees are both friendly and efficient, where even if there is a line at the service counter, customers are taken care of quickly and the counter is staffed with enough personnel to efficiently handle the crowd. The Florham Park Post Office should be permanently closed.
