I was shocked to read the reviews on this site. I have been using the Germantown Post Office for over 10 years and have always found the employees very polite and efficient. Kudos to those who work there! Sometimes the wait has been a little long, but that is a matter of staffing.
I have lost so much money this year with the postal service. If you have an online business you need to go elsewhere. I have 2 items shipped out In January, it is now March and they still haven’t been delivered. I have spent money on priority shipping without it even getting there for 2 weeks. I gave them the benefit of the doubt last year when Covid started but a YEAR later??? I’m over it. Half the time they don’t even pick up my mail with the flag up to go out. Ridiculous
The service or lack there of is atrocious. Today I received a Christmas card post marked 12-18-2020. Yesterday I received important document post marked 12-28-2020. I have received bills this week that are now past due. This has been going on for weeks. What is going on and when will it stop?
Today I went to the Germantown P.O. After waiting in line (probably about 10 people in front of me), when I approach the counter, the Clerk said that I had to have the Clerk, doing processing with the hand held had to help me and she couldn't assist me because I was doing Priority Mail. I asked her if she could go ahead and process it, since I waited in line. She asked how I was paying and I said credit card. She then lied to me and told me she only took cash. I pointed out to her that she accepted a credit card from the customer that was before me. She then claimed she could not handle Priority Mail. Needless to say, I left. I will now add Germantown PO to my list of incompetent Clerks/PO and will no longer return there.
WORST COSTUMER SERVICE EVER COMING FROM MRS REED.
SHE IS DISRESPECFUL AND WOULD NOT ALLOW YOU TO GET A WORD OUT. SHE WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO MY SON(IN PERSON AND SO TO MY SELF(VIA PHONE). ALL BECAUSE I WAS INQUIRING ON WHY MY PACKAGES WERE BEING RETURNED TO THE POST OFFICE AND WHY MY SON WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK IT UP ALTHOUGH HIS NAME WAS ON THE PACKAGE.
This has been a training route for over 24 years. Once again I haven't received mail in two days. Tried calling busy all the time. Go in and stand around for way too long. I have a disability and am ignored and offered no seat. Where is my mail. Hours during hours I work. Have to take off work to check my mail status
They have an automated kiosk to weigh a package and then print postage, which is very helpful. But the large blue receptacle you are supposed to put the package in, has been broken for months. So after I put postage on my package I went into the main office and put it on the "special service" counter for them to mail it. A woman working there yelled (yes, yelled) at me that I was required to wait in line (a very long line at the time) to hand it to a worker.
Then they wonder why folks hate government employees.
The mail locker key left is not working in any of the parcel lockers. I have left a note and the key inside of my mail unit. What is the protocol for this issue? I reside in the Eton Square neighborhood in Germantown, MD. What is going on with the Germantown USPS phone system? I was on hold literally for an hour and still no customer service.
The automated system does not do the following:
1. allow me to bypass all the irrelevant questions and press "0"
2. for me to call at 815 a.m. - does not offer a more efficient wait time = recording states my wait time is 1 hr 40 minutes.
3. allow me to leave a message at my district office, as we are in the 21st century and your technology should have that capability especially since you are out-sourcing some of the branches and offices.
4. Simple question, as to what is the turn-around time to get my mail back that was put in box without postage?
5. Put on the "FOREVER" stamps - no additional postage needed for regular letter even when stamp rates go up.
Just spent 15 minutes with scissors and a screwdriver trying to dig a package out of my mailbox. It was extremely tightly wedged in there. The carrier had to use time/force. Why didn't he/she take 1 minute and put it on my doorstep???
Wondering if we have a new carrier in my area as this was not a problem until recently.

The Germantown Office has not delivered my mail since the first week of January 2017. I have to go on my lunch time in order to get my mail. i cannot do this not even once a week. This is a poor customer service, they don't live packages at the door anymore and i really need someone to look into this because this is causing lots of problems.
WHEN the USPS is going to fix this problem????????
I live in a condo building with mail boxes outside the door. Currently the key stopped working in the mailbox and I am unable to open the box for the last few day. I believe the lock is old. What do I do to fix this problem?
I moved to New York and the Germantown, MD post office has not forwarded at least two important pieces of mail that I know of. It's upsetting to know that I cannot rely on the post office to do it's job.
I have a few packages that it seems like they have lost or just to busy to look for it. The post master at the germantown location was no help. I cant keep leaving work just waste time there and receive no help. I just really want my packages before Christmas and it looks like that is not going to happen.
None of the phone numbers listed on USPS website work! And the irony is USPS asks to call to make an appointment for Passport services. "*An appointment is required to apply for or renew US Passports. Please Call 301-428-9794." Their service is worse than any third-world country!
I also would like to know why no one answers the phone? Frustrating. I am calling from NY because an envelope was supposed to be delivered to my son on October 5 and he still does not have it. It left Syracuse NY on Saturday October 3 by priority mail and the tracking # cannot find this. You wonder why people don't use the Post Office!
the mail man left a key in my boxes because I had another package I tried to open the boxes and the key got stuck I cant get my package out id like to know what they plan to do to get my package out of there also im appalled that the Germantown md post office dosent have an email or a better number where people can reach them
WHY AM I NOT RECEIVING MY MAIL FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW, THE WOMEN THAT DELIVERS TO MY STREET ON ARCHDALE RD IS SO RUDE AND LAZY, SHE MAYBE WANTS ME TO STAY AT HOME MAKING SURE CARS DONT PARK NEAR MY MAIL BOX, IF THERE ARE CARS HER LAZY BUTT WONT LEAVE MY MAIL, I AM RECEIVING MY BILLS, PAYMENTS AND OTHER MAIL LATE. I WILL CONTACT THE CONSUER PROTECTION SERVICES IN ROCKVILLE AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO.
