A friend has myasthemia gravis and has been unable to empty his postal box. He has been in Mass General since November and is now on Cape Cod for rehab. I offered to collect his mail, knowing that the box may be overfull or cancelled. I talked with the nicest post office lady and told her the situation. She could have done nothing - I actually expected it, but she gave me forms so that Box mail can be forwarded and I picked up the mail. What I thought would be a chore turned out to be a very gratifying experience. I'd like to thank the person who handled this - Every post office experience should be this good!
The sewer cover next to my mailbox is sunken and I've been told by the town that they will fix this spring. In the mean time, the post office will not deliver mail and wants me to move my mail box. That was fine until the pandemic and my wife and I, both over 60, would rather not go into the relatively small lobby to pick up our mail. I called and asked Robin if they could resume delivering our mail since it's less than 2 steps from where the truck would stop on our dead-end street in order to reach the mailbox. She abruptly told me "We don't walk". So much for their creed: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds".
For the second time, my delivery from amazon was not made because they are saying my mailbox is full or they dont want to leave the package un-secured...I LIVE IN A SECURE BUILDING....You have to have a key to get into where you can get to the mailbox...The packages are left inside the building on the floor by the mailboxes or at the correct unit door...I don't understand why this is becoming an issue all of a sudden...
