I mailed a check as payment to a RI company around the 25th of April and it was never received by them...…. Any ideas of what happened?

I was expecting a 2-day delivery on this past Sunday (yesterday). Per USPS tracking it was noted "The carrier was not able to access the front door to deliver your package. This sometimes occurs when carriers do not have an access code for a gated community or secure building. Please contact for next steps". I live in a single family home, in the country, with no snow on the ground at all to prevent delivery, and I was home all day. There was no attempt to deliver my package to me at all
