My husband and I have lived at our current address for four years. I am disabled and my husband is a police officer. I have been happy with our mail service until today. Today our mail carrier drove in a zig zag pattern through the middle of our yard causing damage to our lawn where at one point it looks like she sped out and caused a hole. Granted there is a spot in our driveway that dips but she could have gone to the left around that spot as I do every time I enter our driveway. We’ve filled it but it washes out each time it rains and with the recent extreme rainfall it is there again.,We requested putting our mailbox a little further up our driveway as I am disabled and have balance issues and with the mail so close to the highway it poses a risk to my safety. I walk with a cane. Our mail lady said no that she would not be able to turn around in our yard. We own a Nissan truck and I can turn around in our yard. I am citing the persons with disabilities act and requesting again that we be able to put the mailbox a few feet further up the driveway. Not n much. Just past the culvert and the fence. She should have no issues driving in our yard and making a three point turn with her vehicle if I can do it in a full size truck and my husband does it in a full size Tahoe. We own one and a half acres. Today’s driving was absurd. And to say she is unable to turn around but is able to drive through my front yard like she’s drunk today but unable to turn around? She turned around today after delivering a package that did not fit inside the box. So what is the difference? I’m requesting that the post office discuss with her these issues and that my request to move our mailbox be approved based on the fact that I am disabled. Thank you for hearing my concerns. Have a blessed day. Sincerely, DeAnna Hudson 13651 Highway 87 North Jay, Florida
