Wondering if anyone else in Lafayette is not getting mail on Mondays? This is the second Monday we did not get mail.I am wondering if this part of the "improvements" made by Postmaster DeJoy? If so, why didn't the local PO notify us that this was now part of the routine? And from other comments, there is no reason to reach out to the folks at the PO in Lafayette by phone.
I've had great walk in service at the Lafayette post office. But, trying to reach the post office by phone is like going down a black hole. They don"t answer the phone. WHY? By not doing so, they force people to go to the Post office causing longer lines, people having to wait longer for services, leaving some having to come back...All because the Lafayette post office won't answer their phone. This has been an ongoing problem for at least 2-3 years. I've had no problem with other area post offices (Louisville, Erie, Longmont, Broomfield) answering their phone. Unfortunately, some questions are specific to the city's post office where you live. If they are too short-staffed and can't afford additional staff so the phones could be answered, then ask for volunteer help. I'm sure many people would step forward!
PLEASE HAVE THE RESPECT TO ANSWER YOUR PHONE!
I have tried to call over and over today, they will not answer the phone. So I called the louisville post office, they did answer and also tried to call they lafayette post office, still no answer! they are emailing the office for me to see if I can get a call back or get them to reply. we will see
I am a local postage stamp collector and every time I go in for hand back service the clerks are so helpful! I've had many custom covers cancelled and many memories made thank to these hard workers. Thank you!
I'm a truck driver and only get to come home once every four months. I talked with the post office, an older Iraqi (I'm not sure of the gentlemans name) man and told him this was in my plans. Asked if I needed to buy a larger box for my mail, and he said not to worry, everything would be fine.
In the end it was not. :/ Instead he chose to yell at me in front of the other customers in line saying how he would no longer hold my packages any more. I tried to explain to him that with Covid and driving a semi, that getting to the store was not as easy as a normal every day person. Most places do not have truck parking and the truck stops have no near by stores to buy anything....Real food is hard to come by, let alone tampons, shampoo or body wash.
Anyway, I'll be looking to take my business else where unfortunately.
On a positive note, the other employees are very helpful, nice and understanding. Too bad it takes just one employee to lose a customer.....
On Dec. 26th, 2018 I put two bills in a relatives mail box on Doric
St. where we were staying for the Christmas - New Year's holidays.
The Mail Man picked up the outgoing mail and put mail in the mail box.
THE BILLS WERE NOT RECEIVED by the companies the bills were
sent to. I received calls / letters of the bills "PAST DUE." What happened? Did the route Mail Man lose the bills, or what. Please check and let me know.

Hi Lafayette Post Office! I was there on Friday and bought stamps from the machine. I bought 4 sheets of 10 and the machine only gave me 3. I didn't have time to wait in the long line to tell someone, so I understand that I forfeit the $4.90 that goes along with this review, but I did think someone would like to know that there was a bug in the system somehow. Thank you.

I am a paying PO BOX customer and I am the only person authorized to use my PO BOX. Please, when a signature is required for my package, place the signature card in my PO BOX. I will sign it... you can then place my package in the PO BOX. It is most inconvenient to leave my employment to meet your office hours when there is a simple solution. Other POST OFFICE branches provide this service.
We waited all day for a package that tracking indicated would be delivered. We saw the mail carrier put our mail in our mail box and drive to the next house. We rushed after her, asked her about our package, and there it was in the back of her truck, along with many other packages for other people that most likely will also NOT be delivered that day. She had no intention of taking the time to deliver our package to our door. Why do we have a USPO that doesn't deliver mail??
1. There is no information on the Lafayette Co usps website that indicates you have to make an appt for passport acceptance.
2. The hours to accept passports on Saturdays is 10:30-12:30. Exactly 8 people can be processed in this time. If you have children and you work and you need to make an appt you have to wait 3 weeks for the next available appt.
3. If the USPS is the entity that the US Government is going to put in charge of accepting passports then they need to be open acceptable hours. My only other option to get my children's passports accepted is to pull them out of school and schedule an appt during the week.
4. This is ridiculous. I keep thinking that over time the redtape has become better but when they set up this new process 2 months ago it just sent us back 20 years.
The passport office needs to post something online telling people that they don't take pictures. Apparently they haven't for about a year now. There is a sign on the wall, but if people are in line standing in front of it, you won't see. One of the workers there said she came out & told everyone to have their pictures, but she must've said something before we got there. We stood in line for over an hour & a 1/2 only to be told we have to come back with pictures.
Its a shame that people employed by the government think that they have the right to act so terribly!! The post office in Lafayette lost package. It was never even a matter of "if" they lost it but where!! According to Nick it "was scanned in at the wrong address" and they (he and the mail carrier) "were pretty sure they had the location narrowed down". They only came to this weak conclusion after he (Nick) and I going rounds throughout the day over the issue. Prior to that I was met with questions like " what do you want me to do about it?" and "we service 10k customers, the world does not stop for your lost package"
Once we had a plan of the mail carrier "giving it his best shot of knocking on doors" I was assured that they would call the next day with answers. and here we are, and here I still sit. No answers. Thanks Nick
Of course the seller will not credit or replace the item, as the USPS mistakenly delivered it to the wrong address and therefor it shows "delivered" when tracked. Thanks Lafayette postal service!!
