I was lucky enough to get an appointment for an expedited passport at the St. Albans Passport Office yesterday. Especially because my flight to Europe is today. We drove three hours from Brattleboro, waited another four, first were told there was a nationwide outage, and then were finally told that the office's printer was not working. We were told that they did not know when it would work again and we were asked if we wanted to come back again tomorrow. We opted not to spend another six hours of driving and five hours of waiting for a passport that "may or may not be ready." Instead we opted to have the passport overnight delivered when it is ready and returned home. Today I got a call from someone (?) asking me if I would come back to St. Albans to pick up my passport. I said that yes, I would, if it's ready, to which she replied that they "had not tried the printer yet so didn't know if it would work or not." I found it bizarre that she would call me to tell me that they still hadn't tried to print out my passport. Instead of driving up there again for nothing, it I think it would be wiser to wait for it to be overnight mailed to me, I said. "Well, we can't guarantee that if we put it in the mail, that it will get to you," she said. After some confusing back and forth I said, "But isn't the overnight mail tracked and guaranteed?" "Oh, if you want to have it sent overnight, that's different. You have to pay $18.60 for that." I said that I had paid almost $300 for an expedited passport yesterday and left with nothing and that I didn't understand why I wasn't charged yesterday. She then told me that it could take weeks to get to me. (My flight is tonight and I've already lost $1,000 on the trip.) I said that I had lost so much, an extra $18 is nothing, and reached for my credit card. At that moment, an important call from my relative in at my destination came in and I asked to call the woman right back. When I tried to call the woman back, the number was listed as out of order. There is no way to call that office, as the only number given is a national hotline to make appointments, which I already had had yesterday. I called the national number that is posted everywhere and they had me wait and wait until their customer service person told me that the ONLY thing they do is make appointments. They have nothing to do with the inner workings of the offices themselves and don't contact them. Another wasted call. Next I thought I would try the post office in St. Albans and ask if they could someone communicate that I did want to pay for my passport to be delivered overnight. First I told someone there about the situation and was put on hold for 15 minutes until the line went dead. Then I called again and it rang at least 30 times before it went to a fast busy. Now as soon as the woman picked up the phone and I asked if it was the St. Albans post office, the line instantly went dead. What the heck is up with St. Albans? All I can say is DO NOT GO THERE. It has been an absolute nightmare. The staff members are completely confusing and inept. The offices must be understaffed, or the staff are asleep. It seems like the town is cursed. Avoid St. Albans at all cost. They are disorganized, but more important, dishonest. Don't make that long sad drive there, because it's the road to nowhere.

I like our postal carer she is very nice and im always glad to see her bring my packages to the house if they dont fit in the mail box ...... I dont know who the mail person was today but they left my packages out beside the road and someone can take them , i had 2 packages that were left on the ground because they were t big for my mail box so they thought it would be ok to lever them on the ground where someone can take them... The one that brings them to the house she is awsome ..

I wish they would actually ring the doorbell instead of just putting a re-delivery slip on the door when they have an envelope that requires a signature. Really!?? It takes far less time to push a button than fill out the hen scratches left on the slip. USE THE DOORBELL INSTEAD OF BEING LAZY!!! We continuously receive mail that is meant for another address, our mail is frequently not delivered timely (Ebay Prime). Not a lot of good things to say about this post office or it's mail carriers.

This Post office is the worst post office I've ever encountered ever. Ever. Find any other mail carrier!!! First of all, my house is in the town of St Albans, literal steps away from the city though. I have a mail box ACROSS THE STREET THAT THEY EXPECT ME TO PLOW. I do not own the road, I did not want my mailbox across the street, but it is still somehow my responsibility to take care of the 3 inches of snow in front of my mailbox, or my mail just causally doesn't get delivered. They lost a card my mother in law sent, which had money in it. Money I could really use right now. And today, I get a package THAT IS OPEN. I tried calling but it just rang and rang and then disconnected. I hate this post office. I will tell everyone I know to send UPS or FedEx because of how shitty this place is. Please heed my advice, they are AWFUL!!!!!

I observed a male postal worker being very kind to a child today. On Federal St in St. Albans VT 05478 at approx. 10AM I spotted him helping a young boy repair his bike. It appeared as if the chain came off. The bike was flipped upside down and the boy looked upset. The mailman kindly assisted the boy. This act of kindness was incredibly heartwarming.

If you have a choice to have someone other than a woman named Dawn help you at the Saint Albans Vermont location I would recommend it. She is always very rude and unpleasant to deal with. I will no longer use their services because I always feel upset when I leave after dealing with her. I thought it was just me but she treats everyone else the same way. I also feel bad for her because she obviously hates herself so much she tries to bring everyone down to her level of misery any chance she gets.

Yes.... I cringe when I see Dawn working. I know it's not going to be easy or pleasant even if I'm only buying stamps!! She makes everything so difficult and I am upset when I leave there every time I deal with her!
