I took a package to the Buchanan Post Office on Monday morning to have shipped priority to Denver CO. It was in a box from the UPS Store and I had not written anything on it. The girl working weighed the package and asked me for the zip code to where I was sending it, which I gave her and she entered. She told me the cost and then entered the address from the piece of paper it was written on. She did not ask for a return address and I didn't give one. She printed the label and stuck it to the package and then took the paper with the delivery address and taped it to the package. I paid and got the receipt. It was to be delivered in CO on Wednesday. Just now my husband called me irritated because the package went to Roanoke and then back to Buchanan. The lady at the post office (not the girl who waited on me) told him that the labels weren't placed correctly and started to tell him how we should have placed them. He told her that neither of us placed the labels, it was the post office employee. He called me back and I said I wondered how it went back to Buchanan considering there wasn't a return address on it. I wasn't asked for a return address and wasn't asked to provide one. He called back to the post office and the lady told him she was looking at the package and that there is a return address written on it in marker, his name and our address. Again I didn't write anything! So now the package is going to be at least a day later arriving in CO and he thinks I messed up! SUPER ANNOYING! I should have taken it to Troutville to send it.

they are notorious for not doing their jobs correctly. I've had 2 packages stolen from my mailbox (on my road) within just a couple of hours of them being delivered (they had tracking numbers). I was told by the "postmaster" they must've been stolen - I think an employee took them.
