My brother may live with me for the summer. How do I tell the post office to accept mail for him while he's living here?

I wrote out and put in the mail box that I was requesting stoppage of mail delivery from 3/9 to 3/24 at 494 baker hill rd. My neighbor found my mail box full of mail. why? It should have been stopped
