After reading article this morning regarding low staffing levels and the USPS "aggressively" hiring, I call them out on that bs. I've been wanting to join the USPS for years, and have applied for a position several times, that I have experience for and am more than qualified for....never got hired. Further, their hiring process is a joke. It can take MONTHS to get hired, up to 8. They dont keep you informed. How can a job searcher wait around for that long? In that time, with luck, you find another job and move on. There is NO reason to drag out hiring for that position over that amount of time; it's not the secret service. They do it to themsevles with lackluster service due to low employee count. Because I consider myself a good worker, and was willing to work hard for them. I'm sure many people like me have gotten lost interest in that job due to their own hiring processes and actions. If you research it, most employees and prospective employees complain of exact same issue....leave it to the Government.

I just want to comment that I'd love to see benches in the post office so for those of us for whom standing is difficult, we have the option to sit and wait! It would be great if the staffing would improve but we understand the labor shortage is a national thing. Thank you to the hardworking workers!

First of all....just tried to leave a message about service....couldn't. Wed. May 11th..........5 packages were left on a rarely used side porch at 3 Pleasant Ave, in Portland. A tenant saw them as she was coming home from work!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!! You know who was on the route.....and they need to be told to deliver all packages to the door on PLEASANT by the ramp by handicapped parking!!!! Maybe this is why stuff gets lost around here!!! PLEASE FIX THIS !!!!!!!

Is anyone else receiving cards in the mail where the envelopes are ripped or have obviously been opened? I don’t know if whoever is handling them is opening them looking for cash, gift cards, and/or why it is just Christmas, birthday, Easter cards, etc. that show signs of being opened. Very disappointing that someone is apparently looking for cash or gift cards to steal. Do not sent cash or gift cards via the postal system until our dysfunctional postal system is fixed and a better system put into place. The current U.S. Postmaster appointed by our last President is not only not doing his job, but he is doing his best to make a mess out of what used to be a functioning postal system ahead of the next election cycle. Let’s make it even more difficult for the elderly, disabled, poor, and people of color to vote via absentee ballots. This is a democracy at it’s finest? I think not!!

I received a voice mail that the S. Portland PO had a package for me to pick up. When I call to provide a forwarding address (10 Marquette, Irvine CA 92612) I always get a busy signal. I'm in California so I can't pick up the package. Please forward it.

The US Postal Service web site for Portland Maine Sucks! I can't get through and the 800 # or the local # 871 8437 does not give an option for per-cancelled stamp purchase! Which I have to order ahead of arrival. The other number I got was 871 8588 does not even ring!! NOT A GOOD WAY TO Run a business!!

TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE ! Is this what public hire unions protect for blatant unacceptable disservice? Do half even half do half the job WE 're PAYING you to do? Home service is even worse. Parcels left by entry doors, on floor, in adjoining areas,- anywhere but US govt. mail boxes. And arrogant crap attitude if you see unmasked carrier in our home about it. Or being in "her" area, for that matter. "HER" area?? What ever happened to our respected government service? You flunkies SUCK.

I have been forwarding my mail during the summer to our camp in central Maine for the last 20 years. This summer the forwarding service has gotten much worse. Just as a couple of examples... We received two letters from Kansas in Portland on August 2 according to Informed delivery. They were forwarded from Portland on 11th... more than a week later. We received the first one in Central Maine around the 18th. The second one didn't show up until the 25th.... 23 days after it reached Portland. Another example of a letter mailed in Belfast on the 9th. It was forwarded from Portland on the 22th. I can go on with other examples. All it all the forwarding service from the Portland office has been terrible.

My employee just got back from the Forest Ave Post office a few minutes ago and reported that the postal worker there told her he knows her name (and said it to her) and where she lives (several towns away), he knows all about her. She asked him how he knew her and he refused to give his name or any details. She is very upset, and for good reason. Unfortunately there is no one available to report this to.

My husband and I were just screamed at by a clerk at the Forest Ave. post office. Never had such an encounter anywhere in my 70-plus years of life. When I quietly told him there was no excuse for screaming with rage at us, he then screamed and ordered me out of the post office! Unbelievable, and no way to phone the postmaster to report this. I would like to discuss this. (860)995-1068.

I have been trying to reach a person at the Portland Post office and this impossible. The mailbox is full and cannot receive messages and has been forever. We are a Dental office on Washington Ave in Portland and we have been several days without getting any mail. What is up with this? and when we do get it we get 5 day worth. We are constantly seeing mail trucks in this area they just never stop at this office and when they do its after we close and they stuff the mail in the outside slot and we always have daily outgoing mail. Could someone with get back to me by email or call our office to try to rectify this issue. Thank you

I had mailed a very important envelope overnight on Tuesday , was told it would be delivered Thursday , today, due to Veterans’ Day. It never arrived in Florida as indicated. This was very disappointing for intended recipient. I want my money back which I paid to USPS in Portland Maine office approximately 6:15 pm. I used a credit card so it should be easy for you to recover the information. I deserve a refund and the recipients deserve an apology.

OK.....I got confirmation that my mail in ballot was mailed on 10/15 and it still hasn't been delivered on 10/27! I'm also trying to reach someone at the main post office to find out the status of my mail in ballot and why I haven't received it -- called three times -- and three times the phone rang and then was disconnected. So, someone at the post office is hanging up the phone when it rings?? I want to survey Mainers after the election to see how widespread the vote by mail issues and delays are this time around. This is tipping over into voter suppression.

Hello. I have mail forwarding since I moved out of state and the Portland office still has not sent my package. It’s been missing since May13th. I am a frontline worker and this package is essential for my safety while I work and commuting to and from work. Where is my package? I understand delays due to Covid19 but one month is unacceptable. I would like to know that status of my delivery please.

I want to write to commend the two mail carriers that work in my neighborhood regularly. Roland and Victoria are both the best - they tolerate my crazy dog, they have taken the time to get to know us, and they are both efficient and effective in their work. They are the best. Yesterday, when we ran into each other, Victoria asked if my family and I were okay, and if there was anything she could do to help us out. I find the fact that she was taking the time to check in on her customers when she saw them commendable. Thank you for being a kind, thoughtful and helpful member of our community.

Since MY NAME means "The TRUTH OF THE FINEST" I assure you that YOU WON'T FIND THAT HERE FOR SERVICE. A sender packaged something wrong and I was blamed for it as a customer. The staff there thought there was "something wrong with me" and I had a worker {who still works there" put his hand up in a stop sign and say to me "I DO NOT NEED YOUR ATTITUDE" when I was upset about the packaging. I SAID, "THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU! I AM UPSET ABOUT THE PACKAGING - IDI0T!" I walked away and never used his service again. TYPICAL PORTLAND MAINER TO TAKE WHAT I AM DOING "PERSONALLY" WHEN IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. AND I WAS HARASSED IN THE LOBBY AND GOSSIPED ABOUT BY STAFF BOTH THE SAME DAY; FIRST I WAS HARASSED, THEN I CAME BACK LATER AND STAFF WERE GOSSIPING SAYING "DON'T RUN AWAY FROM YOUR TRANSACTIONS" AND LAUGHING. I THOUGHT I DON'T "RUN AWAY" JUST BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE AROUND NAZTY @SS FO0LS LIKE YOURSELVES DOESN'T MEAN THAT I "RUN" FROM ANYTHING - IT ACTUALLY MEANS THAT I CHOOSE TO BE AROUND BETTER PEOPLE AND BE SERVICED WELL!! @SSHOLES!! YEAH I SEE THEIR REAL "SERVICE ORIENTED"!! THEY WANT TO TRY AND MAKE PEOPLE FEEL AS UNCOMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE AND YET REMAIN SOMEHOW "IN BUSINESS" - YEAH RIGHT!! THIS TOWN WILL SOON BE A GHOST TOWN. IS IT ALREADY THE WALKING DEAD AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED!! F#CKING BRAINLESS ZOMBIES!!! BYE PORTLAND!! YOU S#CK!!

We have the same issue on Woods Road in Falmouth. We automatically put any mail delivered to our home back in the mail marked "Delivered to an incorrect address". Others, however, are not as thoughtful or respectful. We have had significant checks that we never received so had to cancel and have them reissued as well as personal financial info which we have no way of knowing if it was read by someone else or what.... FRUSTRATING! Now our mail is being delivered anywhere from 7 - 8 PM and we are on a dark country road with no street lights making it a bit dangerous to get our mail at that hour. Despite a speed limit of 40 MPH, too many cars go flying by doing at least 60 MPH. I think, if the route takes this long, someone up the chain should consider dividing it between 2 individuals.
