My experience is similar to other's reviews about the incompetence of mail persons at this post office. I tried to contact the post office this morning at 9:30 am and again at 11:30 am. Phone rang 20 times. No answer. Hung up and dialed again in case I had dialed the number wrong. Rang 20 times. No answer. Tried again at 11:30. Same result. I have had important mail lost at this office, causing me to have late payments; most recently a credit card. The card had to be replaced. Two weeks later, they delivered the lost card along with numerous other pieces of mail they had lost in the post office. The incompetence in this office is astounding.
Compared to two other US Post Office's I use (one in Fort Meade and the other in Hanover past 100 near 713), this one is the most inefficient. The priority packages always arrive late. It seems to go to the Baltimore distribution site first before finally making it to Linthicum. When using Fort Meade or the one in Hanover, packages arrive efficiently, in good condition, and on time. Never again in this Severn site.
I submitted a change of address and the Severn post office decided to stop delivering my mail a week before the date that I selected for my mail to start forwarding. Instead of forwarding my mail, they sent everything back to the sender (packages from a company), said I moved and that I didn't provide a moving address. Now the packages are lost and one of them had personal information.
In the last month, mail has been delivered later and later each day. The mail last NIGHT was at 10:37pm. In what world is this acceptable? Costs for shipping/mail keep going up but the service keeps going down. Aside from the ever changing delivery times, the Severn Post Office routinely "misplaces" certified mail and packages. It is common to receive a "3rd and final notice" when you never received the first two, and when you go to pick up the item, it's missing.
Lenny at the Severn MD location just provided some of the most excellent customer service I have ever experienced. I had to return a package, so I took the original packaging and a new shipping slip to the Post Office, but did not know that tape is not provided (unless you purchase an entire roll for $3.60 which would have cost more than what I paid to ship the item). Luckily, Lenny had a bit of tape behind the counter and flagged me down as I was walking out. When I returned to the line of customers it had grown in size, but I was content to wait my turn. However, Lenny saw me, asked if I was finished, and took the package from me. He went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. I ran restaurants for 6 years and I know customer feedback is usually negative, so I wanted to make sure I brought attention to an associate who is doing things right.
In terms of the packing supplies- I think it is, for lack of a better word, a little cheap on the part of USPS to not offer tape for customers. I have only used post offices a handful of times, so it is not common knowledge to me that simple packing supplies like this are not made available (and it doesn't state this information on the website). I would have had to drive all the way home just for a few strips of tape, which was an aggravating thought and puts employees like Lenny in an uncomfortable position, because they are the face of your company. I understand that as a business you need to mitigate costs, so keeping something like tape out in the open may be too expensive, but keeping it behind the counter and providing it upon request would be a positive step towards providing exceptional customer service.
These people at the Severn post office are not to bright and the postal carrier cannot be much better. Expecting a certified letter which has to be signed for. Said the postal carrier could not make contact with someone at home and they left a notice. First of all my whole family was home that date and time and there was no notice left. Then the people here cannot find my package. How do you just loose someones passport! And the tracking number still says in transit. Over 30 days later? They need to get their heads out of their asses. Im sick of it.
I am sick and tired of receiving mail that isn't mine, not even close to my address!!! I have been waiting for my driver's license, which was mailed from the MVA on 11/6, and guess what, today is 11/29 and I STILL DON'T HAVE IT! Because they have delivered it to someone else and it scares me that I may be subject to credit fraud. I have put mail in my mailbox to be mailed and again, night number 2, it is still in my mailbox with my delivered mail from today. THANK GOD I wasn't mailing my mortgage payment or a bill that needed to be mailed and delivered timely, as the STATE PAID INDIVIDUAL DELIVERING OUR MAIL IS AN IDIOT! NO WONDER NO ONE WANTS TO USE SNAIL MAIL. DO YOUR JOB THAT YOU ARE PAID FOR.
The postal person who services Queenstown Road community has given me mail for people that does not live at my home.I have a 3 digit address they have a 4 digit address and the street name is Amos Ave not Queenstown, This has happen before, I have yet to receive my electric bill since the beginning of the year. I wonder what other important mail have I or others have not received with this careless employee
Review of our new Severn postman:
I don't normally write reviews but I must report our displeasure with our "new" postman. I have been receiving my neighbor's mail and my neighbor's, neighbor’s mail almost daily, since the new postman has been on our route. If he'd spend a little more time sorting the mail instead of sitting alongside the road, parked, outside the vehicle playing with his cell phone in the middle of the community, nowhere near a mailbox, he may get the mail in the right mailboxes? Also I have the sweetest, friendliest and most thoughtful wife in the world. So there is absolutely no reason in the world for him to be rude and dismissive to her on a regular basis.

I got a notice of a package so I signed it asking for a Saturday delivery. I have security footage proving she never tried to deliver, just put another slip in my box. I put off things to be there and she did not even try to deliver! So pissed.
