My negative review was removed from Yelp so I'm leaving it here instead. Anytime something ships with USPS it sits for weeks at District Heights. I ordered items and ppe that I need for work far in advance. The seller filed a case and I've filed a missing package request but I'm pretty sure it won't accomplish anything. I'm never going to ship or buy anything from USPS again as long as I live in the area.

I've had a package stuck at this location for over 17 days. I sold this item on Ebay and now the buyer understandable wants a refund since he's package is way over due. Ebay has my money on hold now. This is ridiculous. No one answers the phone at this office. My package research case has given zero results and no contact from USPS.

WOW! I see I'm not the only pissed off person here that has major complaints with the postal service. They get paid tax payers dollars, right - soooo why in the hell is this happening? Is anyone even reading these messages? I've called and called and the phone keeps ringing and ringing. I've had a package stuck at this location for 11 days today. At work, I have packages not delivered since December 14th 2020. My goal for 2021 is to NOT use this piss poor service. What a waste.

Look, I get it: COVID is hitting the postal service hard. I’m sure it’s difficult. If the package is going to arrive late, that’s cool. I can wait. But at least give me a loose estimate of when it is going to arrive or suggest to me it might be better to come pick it up. If it’s just going to sit there for three weeks, that’s a bit excessive. It wouldn’t even be so bad if calling the place wasn’t a lost cause as well.

ATTENTION THIS MAY HELP: If your package is stuck in transit at a facility and it has been days, weeks, months, this is what worked for me to get some movement on my package that was stuck at this facility for two weeks: -Call USPS 1(800)275-8777 - Ignore the lady in the beginning and ignore the man that speaks after. Stay on the line. - Press 4 after or before she says "Mail delivery issues, say Carrier or press 4" - Press 1 after or before she says "For package delivery issues say Package or press 1" -Give her your tracking number ( she will repeat it for you, answer yes or no if she got it right) -She will check the status -She will then ask if you something basically asking if you need to speak to someone and she will let you know that the representatives are busy on a call and to record your name and number and you will get a call back. I got a call back after an hour and a kind lady helped me out filled out an inquiry for me and a service request and got my package to move a step closer

My package has been there since December 13. I am just glad I am not one of the unfortunate ones waiting on medicine or pay checks or bills that need to paid. I feel for the Etsy and Ebay merchants who depend on the USPS service for their business who are now having to deal with refunds and complaints that ultimately hurt their reputations and business. Please don’t take your frustrations out on your merchants.

I sent three Priority Mail packages from Massachusetts on December 14th: two to California and one to Maryland. After a brief delay in the Boston area, the packages to CA crossed the country, passed through Santa Clarita and were delivered immediately. The one to MD first went to District Heights, sat there a while, went to Linthicum Heights, then BACK to District Heights, now on to parts unknown, as we’re back to that vague message about the package being in transit, running late. NO KIDDING!!! You can’t blame this on COVID, since Los Angeles has it way worse and delivered immediately. Could the National Guard perhaps help?

My own case isn't as bad but just as ridiculous. My old mortgage company determined they needed to mail my January 1 payment to my brand new mortgage company and did that via priority mail on December 23. I noticed the check wasn't clearing and got the mailed date and tracking number from the old mortgage company. The check arrived in District Heights as an intermediate stop on Christmas morning and apparently is still there. I opened a case online yesterday and hope to have some result. I have also told the new mortgage company all about it. I have proof that I sent the payment in plenty of time and shouldn't have a late charge. Also, it's a check, so the most it should cost me is a stop payment fee, if needed. There aren't any Christmas presents involved. I am very sorry for those who have actual packages missing or who are missing letters or documents that can't be replaced so easily. I didn't even pay the priority mail fee myself. I don't know how widespread this is. I recently had the same thing happen with a prescription being held in a Philadelphia post office for no apparent reason. It eventually made its way to me without extra help. Philadelphia was also an intermediate stop. The tracking is great, except that customers can see when their mail has gotten to a certain place and then has stopped moving. Then we just feel helpless. That had never happened to me before, and suddenly, it has happened twice. To get the full benefit, the Postal Service could use their tracking system to see where this is happening and follow up. I am a lifelong fan of the U.S. mail and hope they figure this out. Good luck to us all.

I put in a missing mail complaint and got an email saying that someone from the Highland (where I live) post office would be contacting me. That did not happen. Package has still not been delivered. To make matters worse, another package was scanned in Hyattsville a couple of days ago, and 20 minutes later was scanned at District Heights. ARRRRG!

Been waiting since Dec 17th for important documents from this postal facility. Only thing I keep getting is updates back and forth that it’s on its way to my home or to next facility! No one answers phone! Never dealt what something so unprofessional in my life especially from a place own by the government! Covid nor holidays isn’t a excuse of the kind of lack of customer service or communication giving from this place when customers are the reason of why these unprofessional people have jobs! Our mail and packages are sitting in this facility or this state without any explanation of why. This is total bs

I live in northeast Pennsylvania. I have grandkids in Virginia. I mailed their christmas packages on dec 4th. The day before Christmas we contacted customer service for the post office. The representative told us that our packages needed a vacation and went to Florida. A day or two after that, five of the six packages made it to district heights(one is still vacationing in Florida). It is now one month since we mailed out the christmas boxes. I am totally disappointed and so are my grandkids. I will know better next yr and use a different mailer. Did anyone request a mail insurance claim yet? Can we have my son drive to Maryland to pick up the gifts? This years service is deplorable. I know covid affected the service, but this is ridiculous. Anyone who can give me any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

I have a package that was mailed out of Maryland on December 8 it is gone to three different post offices or distribution center in Maryland and has not left the state yet. Why they can’t tell me what date it will arrive is frustrating to say the least. What is the issue I don’t care if it’s Covid it doesn’t you can just leave packages sitting there for months on end. If every other post office in the US can figure it out then there is absolutely no excuse!

I understand the problem with covid but I believe its being used as an excuse it this office as I'm receiving mail from other places at a reasonable amount of time. Something needs to be corrected at this office its unacceptable! Shipping Something with insurance at priority express shipping rates that sits at one place for a month is NOT alright!

I join my disgruntled taxpaying citizens below in venting my extreme outrage, not only because of terrible service, but in a complete lack of accountability in aiding us in tracking our packages. Try "opening up a case" on their "USPS Help" site. It doesn't work!!! Try calling the District Heights, MD Post Office. They will hang up on you! I sent a small package from Frederick, MD to New York on December 16 "Priority Mail" and it is still sitting in District Heights. I have the useless tracking number of 9405509206094870008598. At this point, I am going to refund my Etsy customer for her purchase. If the bracelet she bought from me ever arrives, she is welcome to keep it for free for all the trouble she has gone through. Will look into a UPS business account for future dealings.

I mailed 3 boxes on December 17, from Naples, Fl, to be delivered on December 22 in Mechanicsville. I tracked the 3 boxes to District Heights, MD on Dec 19, and they have been sitting there since then. They were supposed to be Christmas gifts for my Navy son and his wife. The last post was on Dec 23 saying they would be arriving late to their destination. Here it is January 2, and they are still sitting in a postal facility in District Heights, Md What do I have to do to get the boxes delivered. I mailed 2 boxes from Eden,NY on 12/14/20 to my son in Rockville, MD via Priority Mail. They have been sitting in this District Heights facility since 12/23. These are Christmas gifts that were to go on their tree and homemade cookies, which now can be thrown out after 17 days. He is in the Army and will be leaving on his next assignment on Sunday 1/3. This is absolutely disgusting that it takes this long for these to be delivered. So I would guess he will never see his gifts this year. I hope you postal workers are happy that a Military person will not receive his gifts, but I assume they do not care. Total mis-management in the entire postal system. Who is monitoring these facilities to see if they are actually working?

It’s scary to think that employees who don’t like something or think that somethings not fair, can just stop the system that gives them a paycheck! All at our expense!!! It’s a sad day for me in America that people can hurt others so much by their actions! I’m older and my days are numbered, but it saddens me for those who will have to accept this behavior as ok!!

It appears the fantastic postmaster General that the great Trumper personally installed is winning bigly. Maybe he thinks voter ballots are still there and making sure they don't leave. Most likely he took a lot of the sorting machines out and done the other stuff he is so good at. Sounds like this location has basically shut down and who knows when some of the stuck packages will move. Really nice and so proud of a certain group of voters. I'm not paying for anything that is stuck there and never to be seen again, so the shippers will have to pay. The USPS is working just great now, so much better than before!

Because the sorting machines were taken out of this facility by the current administration postmaster general right before the election. A postmaster general who has NEVWR delivered mail a day in his life. Now the employees have to hand sort the mail. And that’s an issue when you can’t get employees in to work because of pandemic concerns. That’s why he is getting the blame. And he should get the blame.

I order a lot! but even at this busy season none have been as delayed as this one. I appreciate others who posted similar experiences - would like to hear if anyone has received their package yet?

My prescription has been sitting in your facility for over 2 weeks. I have been without way too long!!! If you can't deliver it this week let me know and I will gladly come and pick it up myself! This is beyond ridiculous!!! I feel for the people who are waiting for Christmas presents. They might get it by next Christmas!!!

Horrible place!! The land of “good luck getting your package, we don’t care!” I have the same problem as everyone else. They dump your precious package here, mind you they had to drive PAST my home before taking my package there to sit for days. Customer service is non existent.

This is a ghost USPS facility. They accept packages but none leave their storage, and the phone line is broken. What's worse, there is no hope to get any response from USPS, I filed a few claims and called USPS customer service a few times. There is no live agent. Nobody emails back. USPS is broken. As for the packages sitting there, we can only hope that when it's been long enough, we can get a refund while losing our merchandise.

I only live 20 miles away. My package has been sitting at this facility for a week, yet this location is under the same pressures and difficulties as others. The phone line is CONSTANTLY busy. Postmaster doesn’t return emails. This place sucks.

I have now 8 packages sitting in this location according to the tracker that were ordered in November!!! I don’t think anyone is actually working in this location and I am very upset they’re all time sensitive and I ordered a month before, a whole entire month!! They’ve been sitting in this location since dec 1. It’s dec 16 I just cannot believe it. Then on top of it no one answers the phone, I would be more than happy to just go pick my packages up, but I can’t even get someone to tell me if they are really there or not.

Package tracking said it arrived at Hyattsville facility on 12/07and departed District heights on 12/08. Each day the tracking says “in transit” and arriving late. No joke. I live about 45 miles away and a week later still no package and no update. I have tried 3 different methods to get someone to respond to this. Ridiculous. Everytime a package is sent to me through USPS I have an issue. Where is my package?

What is going on? I run a very small business and there are packages in your facility that aren't moving. Please help me locate the package. I've tried calling multiple times and your lines are busy. I assume you took your phone off the hooks. Thank you for working with me.

I’ve had several packages at this location for over a week. I understand USPS delays but this is unreal. District Heights, get it together.

I have 2 packages that have been at this location for 8 days. I paid for Priority Express Delivery on December 1. This is absolutely unacceptable. I cannot even file for a refund until the 11th. These were time sensitive gifts.

Linda, I am having the same problem. Sent priority mail, supposed to be delivered to Silver Spring by December 7, and it has been sitting at this location since December 6.

I am trying to get assistance....an item I ordered and paid for was (according to USPS tracking) delivered BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE IT. In fact, I did not receive any mail on 10/2 when it was allegedly delivered. I have been through all my mail multiple times including shaking out flyers and magazines to make sure it was not caught in anything. I want a claim started - I want my items. this is NOT the first time.....

Hello, USPS is trash period. Every time I order something and it goes through USPS I never get my packages on time, even if I order 2 weeks ahead of any event. I ordered something and it was suppose to the arrive the 15th it never came, then on the 17th they came and instead of leaving the packages like they always done. They wanted a signature so they left a note, I requested it to be delivered the following day the 18th without a signature and I still have yet to receive my packages. I've been on hold for an hour and seventeens minutes as of now. I spoke with several people before hand and all they can say is track the package, which I've been doing since the 15th and still says the same thing 7 days later ! USPS is Trash.....

Building 13 (units 204 - 304) is missing their mailbox due to you all not providing a lock for the box. Please have someone stop by this office when delivering the next mail drop so that maintenance can go with them and install the mailbox while you all install the lock. The mailbox is heavy and we don't want to leave it in the wall unsecure. We would hate for it to fall on anyone.

I noticed through my cameras that the Mail Carrier delivered a box for me on a very windy day, and instead of placing it near the rail on the porch, she threw it on the edge of the steps and when returned home, the package was gone. Looking back at the camera, because the package was carelessly placed, it blew away and I lost $120.00 worth of merchandise. The Mail Carrier should know how to place packages, especially on windy days.
